The effects of pattern formation due to an instability can be seen in many places in nature, and commonly in manmade objects. For this reason it is essential to understand how instabilities occur in initially stable systems, as well as, how they affect the outcome of a product or an event. In particular, this research focuses on instabilities at interfaces which arise due to small perturbations within the system.
This work will be performed in collaboration with researchers from either France or Japan, or possibly both.
